Therapy for Teenagers
Our first order of business together is to forge a trusting and stable relationship. I am patient and will spend as much time as you need connecting before we dive into any kind of hard work. As a therapist, empathy and validation are at the forefront of what I will offer you in therapy. More than anything, I want you to feel seen and heard, and I will hold a safe space for you to exist just as you are, free of shame or judgment.

From that safe space, we can work together on deciding where we want to go with our time together.

If all you need is that safe space to be you, to share your authentic self, thoughts, feelings, hopes, desires, and fears with someone you can trust will not pass judgment or make you feel weird or less than, I got you. I can do that for you.

If you need to learn some skills to better manage being a young human in this world and all that comes with it, whether it be figuring out how to deal with strong emotions, navigating conflict with peers or family, making friends and social connections, getting through your school day, and/or controlling your behaviors so you stay out of trouble, I got you. I can do that for you.

If you need to process and come to terms with a trauma or loss that is sticking with you longer than you'd like, to feel safe and secure again, and free of the burden of the constant presence of painful memories, I got you. I can do that for you.

If you need help navigating difficult relationships, and feeling empowered to advocate for yourself and your needs, set healthy boundaries, and communicate clearly and productively, I got you. I can do that for you.

If you need help adjusting to or preparing for a big life change or transition, finding your footing when your world shifts around you (or you shift within your world), I got you. I can do that for you.

No matter what it is that has brought you to me, whether stress, overwhelm, school issues, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or anything, really - I got you.

I specialize in, and am passionate about, supporting teens who are struggling in school. Having been a school social worker in middle and high schools for 12 years, I have extensive experience working with students for whom school is not an easy or comfortable place to be. I've seen firsthand how difficult it can be to navigate the school environment. Whether it is school itself causing the challenge (learning differences, social difficulties, behavioral issues, or academic disengagement), or factors existing outside of the school environment that interfere with school success (mental health diagnoses such as depressioin or anxiety, family conflict and/or scarcity), I am here to provide support in helping teenagers feel confident, competent, successful, and safe in their school environment, so that they may arrive at school ready to learn and able to access their education to their fullest potential.

Schools work tirelessly to support students in every way they can, however, there can be limitations to the scope of support they can provide. So often I have worked with students for whom additional mental health support was paramount to their overcoming school challenges, and this support is often difficult to find. I am proud to be a part of filling that gap, and providing that next level of support, partnering with school teams to wrap around students and set them up for success from every angle.
